Altogether, RSIs represent 62 percent of<br \/>\nall North American workers\u2019 compensation claims and result in nearly $15 to $20 billion in lost<br \/>\nwork time and medical claims each year, as reported by OSHA.<\/p>\n<p>One study found that 50% of participants reported RSIs during the first year of their new job;<br \/>\n68% of the reported RSI symptoms were deemed to be severe enough to be classified as a<br \/>\nmusculoskeletal disorder.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, there are ways to prevent or mediate the discomfort and injuries that can be<br \/>\nassociated with computer use, such as using computer peripherals that are ergonomically<br \/>\ndesigned.<\/p>\n<p>Ergonomics is the science of designing products and systems to optimize human well-being<br \/>\nand performance.
